Here he was going to introduce his two sons to the people, but before that, a man named Charles Guiteau shot him.
The bullet got lodged in his chest. The doctors tried for several days to remove the bullet but were not successful. The second bullet hit his stomach which was never found again. He was immediately taken to the hospital. The doctors were unable to remove the bullet which caused a wound in his stomach.
